29th November was marked by yet another demonstration in the streets of Lisbon. This time the crowd was composed of higher education students.

15h was the time when hundreds of students gattered right above the Marquês de Pombal roundabout, from there they marched in a demonstration that passed in the streets of Lisbon, with the destination set at the stage of previous demonstrations and confrontations with the police, the Portuguese Parliament.

This time though the students gave the country a civic lesson, with around 500 students protesting in front of the parliament without any sort of violence, rendering the excepcional police logistics for the day unnecessary.

The students associative lider,  João Fonseca,  says that more important than the number of students involved  is the fact that the demonstration gattered the effort of 20 student associations national wide.

João Fonseca considered this is a step towards, in the future, the gathering of thousands of students in another demonstration.

“Show me the night” – for BLESS

Today i post another fashion editorial i photographed for BLESS magazine. Despite the fact that it was shot in broad daylight i wanted to give the feeling that the model went for a night out. I only used a single Profoto head with a zoom reflector, attached to a Profoto Pro 7-s.

We shot in the typical  Alfama district, one of the oldest in Lisbon and did a couple of shots in a heavy metal bar called Transmission, in Cais do Sodré district.

I would like to give many thanks to Transmission’s management for all the patience of having us shooting there even when there was allready a huge crowd of people outside that wanted to enter, grab a beer and dance and a special thanks to Kirsten from Photographicas for lending the lighting equipment.

Lytro – The first lightfield camera

“The very first light fields were captured at Stanford University over 15 years ago. The most advanced light field research required a roomful of cameras tethered to a supercomputer. Today, Lytro completes the job of taking light fields out of the research lab and making them available for everyone, in the form of the world’s first Lytro Light Field Camera.”
